JEE Advanced 2014: Study tips for Chemistry - Result Hub India
ven though there is still time for the JEE (Mains) 2014 result to be out, students should pep-up their preparations for the JEE (Advance) 2014 in order to score well in the same. The JEE (Advanced) question paper consists of questions from: Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics. The exam is going to be held on May 25, 2014.
Chemistry can appear to be a daunting subject and students may face some difficulty while preparing for the same. So, to help these students we have complied a few helpful tips for which will them prepare for the subject.
Paper pattern:
The exam consists of two objective type (MCQ) question papers, designed to test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates. Both the papers will be held for a duration of three hours and are made of three separate sections on Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.
The candidates can answer the questions in English or Hindi. Negative making is applicable for every wrong answer.
Chemistry syllabus:
Physical Chemistry:
Qualitative Analysis
Coordination Chemistry & Chemical Bonding in Inorganic Chemistry
Electrochemistry
Thermodynamics
Chemical Equilibrium
Organic Chemistry:
The whole topic
Tips:
  • The students should focus on conceptual clarity, application skills and should be through with the prescribed syllabus.
  • Students should practice the most relevant numerical daily in order to develop speed. They should pay special attention to topics like Mole concept, Chemical Equilibrium and Electrochemistry.
  • While studying Organic Chemistry students should pay attention to topics like Stereochemistry, GOC (General Organic Chemistry) and Functional Group Analysis.
  • In Inorganic Chemistry the questions are mainly conceptual, concerned with structures, processes and applications. Students should pay special attention to topics like Chemical Bonding and Coordination Chemistry.
  • The students should stay focused and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Practice as many mock-test series to build up speed and know the kind of questions generally asked. The students should focus on their weak areas and improve upon your concepts.
  • Remember it is quality of time spent and not the quantity alone. Hence give short breaks of 5 to 10 minutes every 1-2 hours of serious study. Completely relax when you take a break. Practice meditation to develop inner calm, poise, confidence and power of concentration.

Final exams are fast approaching and they can be a frustrating and stressful experience.

Many students rely on caffeine beverages, staying up late all night to cram and turn up exhausted before the test, often too tired to concentrate.

Some important study tips worth remembering are: eating well, taking a short walk to reduce stress, getting enough sleep, studying with partners or in groups, going over previous works and assignments and using flash cards.

And find a good place to study. Unfortunately, not all North Lake College students know where to study effectively for their final exams or where to get last-minute help for final projects and research papers.

The first place to keep in mind is the Library located in the L-Building. This space provides students with quiet areas, computers, private study rooms and a variety of reference books, as well as helpful librarians who are able to assist with research needs.

Students in need of assistance in math can visit the Math Learning Center located in C-211, which provides a quiet study area, study support materials and free tutoring to students currently enrolled in mathematics courses. For more information, call 972-273-3381.

To get help with science, students can visit the Science Tutoring Lab in P-333, which also offers study support materials and free tutoring to students currently enrolled in science courses. Call 972-273-3273 for more information.

The Academic Skills Center located in A-322 offers both reading and writing tutoring services. The Academic Center supports students to identify and correct grammar errors, research and cite sources, and develop writing and language skills.

Those who can't make it to the Writing Lab can submit writing papers electronically through Online Writing Lab (OWL) available on eCampus.

For more information about the OWL call 972-273-3089 or email nlcasc@dcccd.edu.
